In collaborative pairs we created Wordles about Minecraft. We included words we felt were connected to our use of Minecraft. We hope you enjoy them.
We have been doing some procedures in 3SS. A procedure is a step by step writing process. First of all you put the title, then the goal. After that you must put the needs, after that the steps then the check ( to check that you have made whatever it is.)
Please check out our Procedures on the Student Writing Page and leave us some feedback. Thanks
When we went to the library today, Mrs. Grant shared helpful information with us about how the library system functions. Look at these pictures taken from our library today. What is in the photos, how do these help the library system function?
Ms. Larue came down from the high school to share her sketching with us! We learned about how we can use a sketch book and started a mind map of our own to gather our ideas.
Our current Writing Trait focus is Sentence Fluency. After we wrote about a special time we had with somebody, we read and examined the sentences in Jane Yolen's book, Owl Moon, in which she describes a special time between a young girl and her father. Yolen uses different words to start her sentences and varies the length of them as well. We then went back to our own writing and collected data on our sentences. In connection with our inquiry into Data Handling we used an online graphing tool to represent our data of the first word in each of our sentences. After revising and editing our sentences, we published a final version. Please read about our special times in the 'Student Writing' page.

We have been reviewing the writing trait, Organization. After reading the book Tuesday, by David Wiesner, we saw how authors can use days of the week and time to help organize their writing. We also discovered that weird things can happen on certain days and at certain times.
We decided to have a go and write our own stories using days and time. We wanted to make sure we also had a beginning, middle, and end. Please read our latest writing under the tab at the top of the page, 'Student Writing'.
The students used a tool they have become comfortable with to demonstrate their understanding of rights and responsibilities at school. The rubric below allowed the students to understand the expectations before they began to work. If you go to our 'Student Writing' page you can enjoy our Bitstrips and leave us a comment!
